Don mentioned today that he’s used Profcast this semester to provide online lectures for his students. Looks like a convenient tool for Mac users to create screencasts of their lectures or presentations. Another one of my favorite tools on the Mac is SnapzPro. Snapz has been around since the days of Mac OS 8.6 and offers an extended set of screen capture and screen recording tools. Camtasia is what we’re experimenting with right now in SOE for creating online presentations on the Windows platform.
I primarily love using these sorts of tools for creating informal or quick howtos for supporting faculty and their use of technology. Instead of telling everyone how to do something over and over, try using one of these to say it once. You can then send a link to your tutorial on to the person needing help.
What are you using for online presentations and how are you using them?
