Learned some new vi/vim commands today

Learned some great vi/vim commands from an article at Server Watch today:

You can highlight text in vi/vim with v, V, or CTRL-V.

  • v: highlights text character-by-character
  • V: highlights text line-by-line
  • CTRL-v: highlights blocks of text

Once you’ve highlighted text, you can use the y command to yank text and then use p to paste it somewhere else in your document.
